Unit 11 Deer | Unit 6 Turkey | Southeast Kansas Hunting
Property Name: J&J’s Trippie Creek
Named in memory of Jackson and for his son Jeremiah.
Location: Bourbon County, Kansas | Deer Unit 11 | Turkey Unit 6
Bourbon County sits in southeast Kansas where mature oak timber, creek bottoms, and row-crop agriculture stack together to grow monster whitetails and hold Eastern wild turkeys year-round. Unit 11 receives 3,523 nonresident deer permits, making it the most accessible unit in Kansas for out-of-state hunters. Turkey Unit 6 covers the same ground and holds Easterns, Rio Grandes, and hybrids.
This part of Kansas runs big deer. The combination of soybean agriculture, hardwood timber, and low hunting pressure from surrounding landowners who don't allow hunting creates a neighborhood where bucks reach full maturity. When the neighbors protect deer and your property feeds them, the math works in your favor.
The Property
J&J Trippie Creek covers 130 acres just south of Mapleton in northern Bourbon County. Over 60 acres of tillable ground currently planted in soybeans anchor the food source. Trippie Creek cuts through the property lined with mature oak timber, providing bedding cover, travel corridors, and a year-round water source. A pond adds a secondary water draw.
Road frontage on the north and east sides gives you multiple entry points to access the property without blowing deer out. Freshly mowed trails connect to blind locations, letting you move through the property quietly. Two elevated Diamond blinds and a 1,000-pound spin cast feeder already sit in place. A 1.5-acre food plot with a blind overlooking it rounds out the setup.
The property sits fully fenced and surrounded by large landowners, some of whom don't allow any hunting. That surrounding no-hunt buffer adds seclusion and lets bucks age without pressure from neighboring properties. Trail camera history on this tract speaks for itself.
